Welcome to Biocann

More and more studies show the positive health benefits for CBD, THC and CBG oil, the legalization of cannabis (medical and recreational) is growing worldwide and big pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer and Astra Zeneca are actively investing in this field.

The attractiveness of medical cannabis oil, also THC oil, is that it allows for low precise dosing based on resistance and weight.

About the product

How medical cannabis is made.

The flower from the female hemp plant, known in our industry as dry flower, acts as the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) for the oil that we produce. Cannabidiol (CBD), for example, is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant.

Biocann is in the unique position to also extract THC, CBG and other cannabinoids, all in accordance with Macedonian legistlation.

Making high-quality oil involves a chain of steps, including planting, harvesting, extraction, combining and testing. Our aim is to produce between 90 - 95% pure oil which is sold as a wholesale product to clients across the EU.

1. We plant
In our facility we have a selection of seed grown mother plants. These will provide perfectly identical clones to work with in our grow rooms. The clones with a DNA passport will provide a stable end-product with no fluctuations in characteristics. This is the base for our medical product.

2. We harvest
By creating a 100% indoor controlled climate, we can achieve a 100% controlled harvest, which means we can predict the perfect day to harvest, dry and cut. Full-grown indoor hemp takes 50 to 100 days to mature. Cannabinoids are primarily collected in the resin glands of the plant’s trichomes. After harvesting, the plants will be traditionally dried upside down to prevent loss of flavors and trichomes. This takes 10-14 days.

3. We extract
CO2 (carbon dioxide) extraction is the best method of extracting cannabinoids. It is completely safe and creates very little waste. Specialized equipment comprising three chambers is used in the process that converts CO2 into a half-vaporized and half-liquid state.

ABOUT THE MARKET

A maturing medical market

More and more studies show the positive health benefits for CBD, THC and CBG oil, the legalization of cannabis (medical and recreational) is growing worldwide and big pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer and AstraZeneca are actively investing in this field.

The attractiveness of medical cannabis oil, also THC oil, is that it allows for low precise dosing based on resistance and weight.

What you may not know

Most common are CBD and THC, but did you know that there are over a hundred different cannabinoids? Research on other cannabinoids has only just begun.

Pfizer entered the medical cannabis market with a €6.7 billion acquisition a few years ago, several other pharmaceutical companies are active in the cannabis market as well.

Studies and clinical trials are exploring the common view that CBD can reduce anxiety and have shown that THC has positive effects on patients diagnosed with cancer or Alzheimer.

Other health benefits: treat opioid addiction, alleviate ALS symptoms, relieve unmanageable pain, ease diabetic complications, protect against neurological disease, inhibit arthritis symptoms.

In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of CBD under the brand name Epidiolex to treat seizures resulting from Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.

Welcome to our facility

The modern commercial property is located in Vevčani, Northern Macedonia. The facility at the foot of a mountain is surrounded by a picturesque landscape and natural springs.

These large mountain springs provide the best water quality to cool our growing rooms and water our flowers all year long. The short distance to Ohrid Airport makes transport and international trade quick and accessible.

Why North Macedonia?

The Republic of North Macedonia is one of the few countries worldwide with the legal right to cultivate and export medicinal cannabis.
Ideal climate and natural production resources (solar energy, natural water resources).
While other countries mainly focus on legalizing and producing CBD, Macedonia is a pioneer in legalizing medicinal production and processing of all over 100 active cannabinoid substances from the hemp plant. This offers unique opportunities for research and production of new medicines.
The country is a candidate EU member.

North Macedonia offers a unique
investment
climate

Highly liberalized foreign trade policy with free access to the European Union and other markets makes North Macedonia a highly-competitive production and export platform.
Favorable tax environment and one of the lowest corporate income tax rates (10%) in the world.
Highly qualified workforce and one of the most competitive labor costs in Europe (average €835).
Stable monetary environment with one of the lowest inflation rates in the region and a stable currency.

Sustainable and biological at its core

2500m2 of solar panels on the roof
Future plans to enhance the utilization of solar panels on roof of the factory
60-80% of total energy need during summer could be solar generated
Watering & cooling with spring water
LED lighting for improved output & longevity
80% less waste compared to traditional operating factories due to recyclable cocos materials
